Our NEW all paper demo layout

Not to drift too far from the kit world but I want to show a bit of our new demo layout which will feature a  Mining and sea port theme.

heres the first pass at roughing out the scenery in foam.

I’m doing a build thread over at MRR forums but don’t look for too aggressive updates. I have a lot of other stuff needs doing.

Thom,

Looks like an interesting track lay out. But there seems to be little space to display your wonderfull kits. So with this thought in mind, pray tell, what is the concept of the track plan?

I think you will be surprised by how many buildings there will be. Of course the temptation is to show everything but I think a greater goal is to show the models as they would be used and how well they integrate into a scene ther will be 3 main scenes and 2 minor ones.
The peak on the left will be almost entirely covered by mine structures. Directly to the right of that by the passing track will be a small settlement with a small depot and water tower. At the front of the layout will be a wharf with a large warehouse and a couple of smaller buildings. To the left of that will be a small fishing village. there will also be a lighthouse and likely a fishing boat (paper of course)

The back story, The company mine is the only real industry in this isolated coastal settlement. There is no access other then the sea. Wile only about a quarter of a mile from the coast the elevation is about 30 meters of rocky landscape with a peak reaching 60 meters.
A tramway would have been the smart choice however the company also owned a mine further up the coast that was played out. This mine had a railway so it was decided to disassemble that line and move it to mine at "Rock Haven" where it takes a serpentine 1/2 mile path to the stone quay. On the way it runs through the company town of "Bizby" and the fishing village of "Broken Hip" near "Codger falls".
The Mine has not yet been named.

WoW, quite a ambitious project. Looks like 3X6. Looking forward to seeing the light house and sea front structures. And of course the mine buildings. :))

John it's 2'.5" X 3'.25" Not much bigger then a big suitcase. The super tight Tomix curves are way cool.
