Would this be a good free model?

Here’s a model of a Monson snow plow that I love but I’m not sure what to do with it. Jim Gore built this and i did a small amount of retouching in Photoshop to reflect design changes made after the fact (sealed windows)

It’s a bit specialised being narrow gage. Perhaps it would be better to offer something with a broader appeal. Comments. just add trucks and grab irons.

I also hybridized the printed underbody with some strip-wood to make a stiffer frame with wooden bolsters for the trucks. I can provide additional information if anybody wants.

I think the Monson Snowplow in O scale would be hit. Think of all of the people in On30? Trevor Marshall has been writing in Railroad Miodel Craftsman about the Monson and every freelanced On30 layout could use one (depending on location of course - could it carry sugar cane?). I'm sure the fellows in On2 would use it, but I believe that is a much smaller market than On30.

The one that I built is On30, as a matter of fact but, it could be On2 or On3 ... just a matter of trucks and couplers.

As Jim stated he used a modified under frame. I have since modified our under frame but some may choose to mount it on a flatcar as well.
As always we try to provide everything you need but leave it to the individual modeler to make free changes. I've seen the steel plow section mounted on several of different chassis.

I'm not so sure I would do the snowplow as a free download. While this is a great looking model this is aimed at a small market when compared to other scales and guages. Where do you want to grow your market? I have really enjoyed working on the tool shed. This is my first paper model and I am currently working on the third edition perfecting techniques. I would not have made the plunge without the free download. At this point I'm considering a bigger project. Working with different media and techniues has been most enjoyable. Thanks for the opportunity to grow my skills.

Rick, I'm happy to hear that you are enjoying the tool shed. The snow plow is a bit of an orphan model. It doesen't fit thematically with any of the future disks we have planned ( there will be a narrow gage rolling stock disk some time).
I realize its got limited appeal but it will only be up for 3 weeks and then replaced by some thing a bit more mainstream.
It comes with an under carrage but i'm thinking it may fit on a Bachman flat car. it would look great as a static deralict in a yard some where.

Now that the model is up and available, one of the modifications i made to the kit is to make it fit a shortened bachman On30 undercarriage.
I don't have a suggestion for HOn30. If any one wants to offer ideas please do.
